  1. The dog doesn't care whether you sing or laugh or cry or dance. She just wants a cookie.
  2. The weather is changing and the Republican candidates...all of them... are unbelievable idiots who say there is no such thing as climate change.
  3. If I do then I am here, but if I do too much then I am lost.
  4. I love wild birds but I don't like chickens. Chickens just spend way too much time around people.
  5. If I start the day with a quiet prayer, then everything that follows seems to make sense. I don't have to make a list.
  6. The more the moon shines the less sleep I get, and fizzy water keeps me up too.
  7. The older I get the younger my memories become.

The Owl Comes to Us

Last week, after many months of struggle and enduring the pain and hardship of illness, Judy Marz died. We spoke about what the Spring would bring not that long before. And Spring is still about to arrive, whatever happens to us all, but without Judy. She brought me into a world that is about possibilities and love. We all gathered to her as she labored toward her next destination. Her oldest friends were there along with me, among her newest friends.

Rain

2:20p The sun has arrived for a short visit. Dark clouds gather over Marlboro and the slender threads of light pierce through atmosphere heavy with moisture. We swim through the woods in this heady oxygen rich landscape. The leaves have grown fingernail sized and pale translucent green to dinner plate sized dark green shade for the lush canopy above me. The woods are spongy with water. Trees are giving up their purchase in the soil, first leaning against their neighbors and then, finally, falling to the ground. Huge and full of life. Not diseased just overwhelmed by water. I get that. I am overwhelmed too. We all are. People have left their rain boots and coats in the back hall. We have given into the wet on our collars and the fine fringe of damp in our hair. What's a little dampness at this point? We are all comrades in this gathering of clouds settled over our heads. The Mountain is obscured. And everywhere there is the noise of rushing water. Water runs racing to the rive...
